The effort to cut long lines at the Jefferson County Courthouse could be one signature away.
A bill that would allow cities to renew car tags has now passed in both the House and Senate. It now goes to Governor Robert Bentley for final approval.
If the governor signs the bill, it could take months or even more than a year before it is actually implemented on a city level.
