Another effort to reduce those long lines in Jefferson County is being called a mistake.
County commissioners agreed to re-open the center point courthouse on April 16th. Commissioner George Bowman says the county will not be able to handle the massive crowds with existing employees. He suggests bringing back workers off of administrative leave without pay.
"If we open Center Point with just the personnel we have now, it's a mistake. A clear mistake. The lines are going to be long at Center Point. The wait is going to be long at Center Point," said Bowman
Commission President David Carrington says he does not want to hire workers back and later be forced to lay them off if the legislature fails to provide a funding fix for the county's financial problems.
