Missing persons case becomes murder case in Calhoun County

CALHOUN COUNTY, AL (WBRC) - The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office is investigating a murder in the Wellington community.

The case started Sunday as a missing person's report. 43-year-old Joey Alford was last seen alive on Tuesday.

As investigators were completing their report, Alford's body was found at his home on new Liberty Road. The sheriff's office says Alford died from a gunshot wound.

Currently, there are no suspects.
