Odenville fire chief fired over flushed babies incident

ODENVILLE, AL (WBRC) - The Odenville City Council has voted to fire its fire chief over an incident involving two stillborn babies being flushed down the toilet.

Monday night, the city council unanimously approved a decision by Mayor Buck Christian to fire David Davis. The decision comes a month after a woman miscarried a set of twins and the babies were flushed down the toilet by Davis. The bodies were later recovered from the home's septic tank.

Davis earlier this month defended his actions, saying he and emergency workers on the scene "followed protocol" during the incident.
