Suspected child abductor commits suicide

MONTGOMERY, AL (WBRC) - Investigators believe their suspect in an attempted abduction case that was caught on video has committed suicide.

On Easter Sunday, surveillance cameras at a Montgomery church caught a man trying to abduct a ten-year-old girl.

Days later, a man matching the suspect's description was involved in a standoff that ended in a suicide in Atlanta.

Montgomery police now confirm that 42-year-old James Scott Carringer was responsible for the abduction attempt. He is also suspected in a kidnapping and sexual assault case in Georgia.

Church members at the site of the Montgomery incident pray this never happens again.
