HOOVER, AL (WBRC) - Hoover police announced Thursday they had discovered more than five dozen minors in attendance of two seperate open house parties, one of which resulted in the arrest of a woman in Greystone.
Hoover Police, in a statement Thursday to FOX6 News, said Wanda Defane Toolebi, 47, of Greystone, was arrested Monday, March 1st, on a warrant for violation of the Alabama Open House Party law. The arrest stemmed from an incident February 19th at her home where police were called and discovered 44 minors, some as young as 15 years old, at a party in the basement. Police said more than half of the children were holding beer cans, and more beer and hard liquor was available throughout the house.
Police said the underage teens at the party were students from Spain Park High School, Hoover High School, Oak Mountain High School, Briarwood Christian High School, Vestavia Hills High School, and Mountain Brook High School.
In addition, officers were called to another home on last Saturday, February 27th, where they found another 20 minors drinking at another open house party. No adults were present.
Police said that case remains under investigation.
Hoover Police said more information about Alabama’s Open House Party law can be found at the Hoover Coalition’s website, www.hostpays.com.
